Korea’s First Middle-standing Company Job Fair Attended by 87 Middle-standing Companies
□ On May 24th (Wed.), the Small and Medium Business Administration of Korea (SMBA; Administrator: Young-sub Joo) and the Association of High Potential Enterprises of Korea (APEK; President: Ho-gap Kang) held the One Million Plus Job Fair for Middle-standing Companies, Korea’s first job fair dedicated to middle-standing companies. The purpose of the fair is to solve the youth unemployment issue and help middle-standing companies find talented recruits.
 
□ During the fair, which was held under the slogan “The Next Big Thing in the Korean Job Market,”
 
◦ 87 middle-standing companies including Woobang Corporation and Boryung Pharm actually recruited new employees through on-site interviews conducted at the venue, and provided a wide range of information for job seekers regarding their welfare benefits and working environments.
 
◦ Byucksan, in particular, moved up their annual recruitment from November to the job fair period, in accordance with the company’s strategic employment policy.
 
□ The job fair also offered a variety of side events to raise the social awareness of the economic significance of middle-standing companies, and spread the perception on middle-standing companies as sources of high-quality jobs among job-seekers.
 
◦ The Middle-standing Company PR Zone provided an overview of middle-standing companies in Korea, including the definition of middle-standing company and their significance in the Korean economy.
 
- Lectures such as Know Your Middle-standing Companies, and Career Management Know-how for Job Seekers provided young job-seekers with information on middle-standing companies and job finding tips.
 
◦ Other side events included career aptitude tests, consulting sessions at the Job Matching Zone, CV photography service, and image-making and hair/make-up consulting for job interviews.
 
□ The job fair is the first job fair dedicated to middle-standing companies. The fair provided precious opportunities to young job-seekers who value the growth potential and economic significance of middle-standing companies.
 
ㅇ The job fair is expected to encourage 1.15 million middle-standing entrepreneurs and employees to raise awareness on the difficulties experienced by young job-seekers today, and help solve the youth unemployment issue.
 
□ SMBA Administrator Young-sub Joo said, during his visit to the fair,
 
◦ “As the center of the global economy shifts to SMEs and middle-standing companies, SMEs and middle-standing companies need to expand their operations overseas based on enhanced competitiveness. Hiring talented recruits provides the means to improve their HR competitiveness.”
 
◦ The Administrator added, “the SMBA will help SMEs and middle-standing companies secure high-quality human resources and improve their competitiveness in the global market by innovating the remuneration system for workers through the future benefit sharing and other means.
